Way to the South

Algarve is one of the most visited regions in Portugal by the time of summer. Its famous beaches and natural landscapes leave anyone speechless. Here are some of our suggestions so you can make the best out of your visit to this region.

From its houses with Algarvian architecture, to the Serra de Monchique, this place is perfect for those who like to go hiking, because to appreciate its charms it is necessary to go up and down. In the end there will be the memory of a mountain village with history and character to revisit some other day.

From the long Avenida dos Descobrimentos it’s possible to appreciate the profile of the city and the Marina full of life and joy. This route leads us to the sea and beaches, which are the most appreciated in Algarve, so often distinguished by international magazines.

Meia Praia, a long beach with about five kilometers that ends in the Ria do Alvor is situated to the east. To the other side there are smaller beaches bathed by crystal clear water with rocks carved by the erosion, which add a dazzling beauty.

Further on, Ponta da Piedade is an impressive rock formation with jagged shapes and caves that can be enjoyed to its fullest on a boat trip.

Ria Formosa Natural Park

Ria Formosa is a labyrinth of canals, islands and sandbanks, stretching along 60 kilometers of Algarve’s coastline, between Garrão and Manta Rota beaches.

This diversity of ecosystems attracts an eclectic fauna that includes numerous species of birds.

To end the tour in the best way, visit Cacela Velha, a white village with a remarkable historical heritage. Climb to the fortress, and look around, the landscape is breathtaking.

The city of Faro is the gateway for all those who want to visit the Algarve and come by plane, but is often overlooked by many of the visitors who depart directly to the various bathing resorts in the region.

Situated only 6 km from the airport, the historical center of Faro will conquer you with its streets full of history, museums and its beautiful cathedral from where you can enjoy a magnificent view over the Ria Formosa.

The city beach is called Faro Island, and as the name itself indicates, its a small island with a large beach facing the Atlantic Ocean.
